The corners allow better protection of the shipment during storage, handling and transport. They prevent edge damage and give the shipment a compact and stable shape. They are made of several layers of paper in proportion to their thickness. The corners are brown as standard, but the outer layer can optionally be white, printed with a logo or water-repellent, coated with PE film. The cardboard corners can also be self-adhesive on the inside.
The widths of the side or leg of the corner are standard symmetrical (e.g. 45 x 45 mm), but asymmetrical corner widths are also available (e.g. 50 x 70 mm). Combined with the different thicknesses (2-8 mm) and the large range of possible lengths (50-7000 mm), the range of different possible corner widths is wide. The dimensions of the corners are usually written as e.g. 45x45x3x2000 (AxBxCxD). The exact dimensions are subject to agreement with the customer.
